DSA of South Africa Annual Awards Luncheon

Ernest du Toit receives the Hall of Fame Award from Cornelle van Graan (2)

In a South African economy facing a third possible downgrade, mounting living costs and scarce jobs opportunities, it’s reassuring that the direct selling industry is one of the few sectors showing positive growth over the past 18 months.  Growing by 18.6% in 2016 over the previous year, the South African direct selling industry is home to an estimated 1.3 million independent business owners.  On July 18th, these positive results were announced at the annual awards luncheon.

Over 300 delegates attended the event.  Justin Cohen a motivational speaker spoke about the peak performance for success.  DSA Vice Chairperson Cornélle van Graan presented on initiatives such as women entrepreneurs and social media.  DSA Chairman Ernest du Toit presented the industry statistics.  Keynote speaker Khanyisile Kweyama presented on the importance of reputation management and ethics.

During the awards luncheon, Ernest was presented with the DSA SA Hall of Fame Award.  The award honors individuals who have dedicated significant years of service and have made considerable contributions to the DSA and the industry in South Africa.  Ernest became a DSA Director in 2002 and is one of the longest serving Directors of the DSA having served a total of 14 years.  He held the position of DSA Vice Chairman for 6 years and was elected as Chairman of the DSA in July 2015.  He stepped down as Chairman in July.
