WFDSA
Chairman

Dear Colleagues,

I am very honored and privileged to serve the direct selling industry as Chairman of the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations
during these exciting times.

The world is going through digital transformation. I believe direct selling, with its communities of people united by a joint purpose, is
more relevant than ever for empowering entrepreneurship through offering quality products and services.

As we all know, like any industry, ours has its challenges and in particular, the industry faces a level of consumer and regulatory hostility
that could potentially hinder its growth. In my new role as Chairman of the WFDSA, I want to assure all of you that the WFDSA remains fully committed to supporting the Direct Selling Associations around the world by developing, maintaining and promoting the
highest global standards for responsible and ethical conduct by direct sellers.

We will continue strengthening existing and building new relationships with government officials, consumer groups, academics and other key
external stakeholders. Because I believe when we build bridges and bridge the issues together, we help the industry prosper and create favorable environment for everyone concerned.

I look forward to working with all of you over the next three years as we unleash the many opportunities ahead. Let’s communicate our dreams,
goals and values at all times and let’s all of us together be the center of positive energy. Let’s own the future which is NOW!

WFDSA
Executive Director
UAB

Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,

It was wonderful seeing so many of you in Paris during the XV WFDSA World Congress. The WFDSA Organizing Committee would
like to thank all our sponsors, supporters and attendees for celebrating this truly amazing event with us. We had presentations from world’s most innovative and brightest minds like Bertrand Piccard and Pascal Lamy to our industry’s global leaders and executives
ending with a magnificent Awards Gala in the Palace of Versailles’. We hope that by sharing experiences and learning from each other we got inspired as to how we can “own” the future which was the theme of the World Congress.

I would like to end with a quote from Bertrand Piccard who was the best and most inspiring speaker I have ever seen “The pioneering
spirit is less about thinking up new ideas, as ridding ourselves of dogmas and habits that hold us captive in thinking”. Thank you for everything you do to promote our wonderful industry and the opportunities it offers. Let’s own the future!

WFDSA
Vice Chairman

Rog

Dear Colleagues,

I am honored and privileged to serve as the Vice Chair of the WFDSA. Direct selling is an incredibly impactful industry, and one of only
a few that have a proven history over the last hundred years of virtually continuous growth in positively engaging millions of people at scale.

Collectively, our companies empower more than 100 million people to earn a flexible part-time income by introducing people that they know
to unique differentiated products that improve some aspect of our customers lives. What I find most inspiring is that we as an industry exist to help others achieve their goals, to support and to encourage people, and to bring people together on a common mission
of improving the state of the world. It’s a privilege for our entire community to earn a living by helping others live a better life, and I will do my best to be a passionate advocate for the good work each and every one of you do every day to make a difference.

Advocacy
Committee – Kim Drabik
mal

Dear colleagues and friends,

As part of the WFDSA World Congress Organizing Committee, once again I would like to join in a big thanks to everyone who participated,
sponsored and supported a remarkable Congress that truly positioned WFDSA to Own the Future.

It is my privilege to serve another term as WFDSA Chairman of Advocacy. Dedicated DSAs and passionate company participants shared expertise
and allowed the committee to set a foundation that is sure to progress WFDSA objectives under the leadership of Magnus Brannstrom as Chairman. We established and published an Annual Report, and this year we included industry philanthropy. WFDSA enjoys a brand
refresh, new logo and website. A WFSDA mobile app in under development. Events in partnership with DSAs reached our key audiences and external stakeholders. Finally, thanks to company participants, DSA input, the greatest achievement of the Advocacy Committee
is the development of global consistency and alignment on messaging. The WFDSA Messaging Guidebook is paving the way towards key briefing statements to be launched by the end of the year.

I look forward to serving and working with all of you to continue our fervent advocacy that creates a fitting marketplace in which our industry
can thrive. To quote Magnus, “the future is NOW”…let’s own it.

Association
Services Committee – Garth Wyllie
Thai

I am excited to be reappointed as the Chair of the Association Services Committee and looking forward to the challenges of continuing to
establish new DSA’s in parts of the world we don’t currently have them along with a strong focus on enhancing how our DSA’s perform and providing greater alignment and member company support within each DSA market. The work we have undertaken with the Association
Performance Program provides the perfect vehicle for continuing the improvement of DSAs ability to undertake the key functions around lobbying, member support and education within each market. This has been reflected in the number of DSAs lifting their individual
rankings under our performance criteria with now a significant number achieving gold and platinum status. Such achievements however can only be achieved with both the willing cooperation of DSAs and their member companies as we strive towards out joint goals.

Ethics
Committee – Philippe Jacquelinet

Dear Colleagues,

It was our pleasure receiving you in Paris during the WFDSA XV World Congress. We are confident we delivered what we promised – an unforgettable
experience which you will cherish for years. When I assumed my role as the Chairman of the Ethics Committee three years ago, I made a commitment to work with all of you to foster the highest level of ethical conduct worldwide. As I continue in the same
role for the next three years, the immediate next steps are to give you, the DSAs six months to adopt and localize the Code and an additional six months to all your members to comply with the Code. The goal is to have the full compliance by November 2018.
Apart from adopting the Code, the Ethics Committee will continue to review and discuss those areas which will need our attention to ensure that we always continue raising the bar on ethics.

I look forwarded to working with all of you.

Global
Regulatory Affairs Committee – Pontus Andreasson
Pont

As the regulatory environment continues to evolve I am excited to lead the Global Regulatory Affairs Committee in its pursuit to protect
the direct selling opportunity. We currently see plenty of regulatory activity around the world, mainly within the consumer protection area, but also on tax and social security side as states seek to improve their revenues. Explaining the benefits, as well
as the mechanics, of legitimate direct selling to regulators and policymakers is as important as ever.

The Global Regulatory Committee strives to add value by facilitating global information sharing, by developing and sharing best practices,
and by providing targeted consulting and advocacy assistance to national DSAs where appropriate. During the upcoming year the Committee will further develop and expand the regulatory toolbox available for members on the WFDSA webpage to ensure it remains
relevant and up to date.

Global Research Sub-Committee – Judy Jones Judy

The 2018 Annual Statistical Survey has been launched early! 4 months early, because of requests by DSAs who conduct their research with
member companies in the last quarter of the year. As well, the survey was streamlined and shortened … from 21 questions, down to 11.

The survey is due:

  • due from local member companies to local DSAs on March 9, 2018 latest.
  • And due from local DSAs to WFDSA / Nathan Associated on March 16, 2018 latest.

A Segmentation update was provided to CEO Council during the recent World Congress:

Subsequent to CEO Council consensus to use segmentation data in external communications, a pilot was begun in the United States in June 2017.

  • US Pilot: USDSA President Joe Mariano began his Annual Meeting remarks about segmentation by saying, “The trend is a greater focus on the end-user, the ultimate consumer …” (The text of Joe’s full
remarks are available on request.) Segmentation data is being used in industry communications with the online and traditional media, policy makers and regulators, the academic community and member companies. Key Learning from the US pilot: Use of the segmentation
data in external communications has been non-controversial, with few comments.
  • Next Steps:
    • 2018 research will be conducted with sales force in selected countries to learn about their motivations for joining direct selling, thus adding more information about WHO they are and why they find
      direct selling valuable.
    • The segmented version of the 2018 Annual Statistical Survey will now be expanded to include additional countries beyond the 19 original markets.

WFDSA’s World Congress XV “Own the Future” was held on October 2-3 2017 in Paris, France. The event was a great success with an attendance
of 500 delegates from more than 50 countries around the world and more than 50 CEOs and various government officials from a number of countries.

The Congress was opened by Founder & Chairman of Captin Tortue and Chairman of the World Congress Steering Committee Philippe Jacquelinet,
who welcomed all delegates to event. Emma Crosby, the BBC journalist moderated the plenary sessions. WFDSA Chairman DeVos officially opened the 15th world Congress. The event brought together DSAs, member company executives, government officials, academia
and media from all over the world. WFDSA Executive Director Tamuna Gabilaia presented on the global state of the direct selling industry.

Betrand Piccard, the Swiss aeronaut who flew around the world with “Solar Impulse”, the first solar-power plane shared his vision of a fast-moving
world in his keynote speech which focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. Pascal Lamy, former Director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and former European Commissioner for Trade gave insights about the current and future global challenges the world
will face.

Chairman Doug DeVos moderated a discussion on owning the future with top industry leaders.

The World Congress also featured interactive workshops including relevant topics for the future of the industry such as Generation Y, the
evolution of consumption and distribution, successful digital transformation, the collaborative economy, successful in Europe, the company of the future, and the future of connected tools in direct selling and social media and direct selling.

In his address as new Chairman of WFDSA, Magnus Brannstrom, CEO and President of Oriflame stated, “I am very honored and privileged to serve
the direct selling industry as Chairman of the WFDSA during these exciting times. The world is going through digital transformation. I believe the direct selling, with its communities of people united by a joint purpose, is more relevant than ever for empowering
entrepreneurship through offering quality products and services. I look forward to continue to build and develop on my predecessors’ long legacy of improving the standards of the global direct selling industry”.

WFDSA Executive Director Tamuna Gabilaia announced that the next World Congress will take place in Thailand in 2020.

Delegates of the World Congress attended three prestigious events including the welcome dinner, cruise on the river seine and the Gala and
Awards dinner at the exceptional setting of the Chateau de Varsailles. This unique event celebrated the end of the World Congress.

Alfonso Silva from the DSA of Chile commented, “Participating in this year’s WFDSA World Congress in Paris was as always an extraordinary
experience. The conjunction of people from all over the world connected by such a passion as it is direct selling, generates an incredible learning and collaborative environment, in which people could share experiences, discuss current and future scenarios,
tendencies and problems around the direct selling business, and create strong networking relationships that sometimes last for our entire life. As representatives of the DSA of Chile we could realize that this year’s World Congress concentrated most of its
topics in maybe the most relevant question of this decade: How technology is constantly changing our lives, especially focused on its effects over the direct selling industry, its companies, distributors and consumers. In this respect, we really enjoyed attending
very interesting workshops, such as “Social Media and Direct Selling” and “The Company of the Future”. All in all, this year congress was an “unforgettable” event so, we very much look forward to assist and participate in the next WFDSA World Congress to
take place in Thailand during year 2020.”

Denisse Slade from the DSA of Peru commented, “In one word: amazing. One of the best World Congress with excellent speakers exchanging
knowledge of the future of our industry and also giving us inspiration that nothing is impossible like Bertrand Piccard said. We are in a great industry that seems like a big family and it was reflected in this World Congress. Definitely it was worthwhile.
My congratulations to the French DSA team for an amazing organization and a special thanks to Tamuna and all the WFDSA team for their continuous support to help us strengthen our DSAs and helping us with the problems that may occur in our countries. Also
a special thanks to Doug, his leadership made it possible to elevate ethics and help create a better understanding of direct selling worldwide.”

Tamara Shokareva commented “On behalf of the DSA of Russia, I would like to express our sincere appreciation for conducting one more remarkable
event – WFDSA World Congress in Paris. Such events are very important for the industry because they provide us with new energy and strategy vision. We enjoined encouraging plenary sessions, interesting workshops and a very good atmosphere for discussion
and networking.”

Nadia Bedrychuk from the DSA of Ukraine commented “The congress had an excellent introduction,
impressive key speech of Bertrand Piccard, and overview of the latest trends – Y generation & Silver economy. Like Uber and similar platforms, direct selling companies become a part of sharing economy and offer plenty of opportunities for entrepreneurs.
“We have never been as modern as now” – Magnus BRÄNNSTRÖM. There was excellent knowledge shared from leading experts – Christian Busch, Joël de Rosna. To be successful in today’s changing world, the direct selling industry needs to expand its network to
bring in even more people and more ideas. My special thank you to Mr. Pascal LAMY, Former General Manager of the World Trade Organization, I feel I should read his book”.

Lawrence Cheah from the DSA of Malaysia commented ‘The WFDSA, with Tamuna and Maureen, the Advocacy Committee, the Association Services Committee, the
Ethics Committee,, the Global Regulatory Affairs Committee, the Global Research Sub-Committee is steering the industry in the right direction especially in times where illegal scams often masquerade as Direct Selling. We will miss Doug’s exemplary leadership
especially in uniting the industry and look forward to working with Magnus’.”

Mirosław Luboń from the DSA of Poland commented “Strange as it may sound; the Paris event was my first WFDSA World Congress ever. For this
reason I’m not in a position to compare it with any previous congresses, but in my opinion the meeting in Paris was definitely highly successful and worth the cost incurred. To start with, Bertrand Piccard was the best motivation speaker I’ve ever heard
– largely because what he was speaking about was deeply rooted in his personal experience, much less in theory. To see and listen to him on stage was already worth the cost of coming over to Paris. The same can be said of Pascal Lamy’s appearance, even though
the subject matter of his speech was miles away from Piccard’s interests and achievements. Of the two workshops I attended, the one on the Y generation was very eye opening and instructive. Last but not least what I particularly liked about the Paris meeting
was its light moments provided by the organizers, to mention but the French style dinner and the delightful entertating interludes, very much Parisian style, that contributed to the overall lively atmosphere of the event.”

Alberto Villamil from the DSA of Argentina commented “I am very happy to have attended the XV WFDSA World Congress in Paris. It was a magnificent
event, and I applied this definition both to the content of the event and to the spaces created for networking especially the incredible dinners at the Paquebot on the Seine and at the Château de Versailles. If I had to choose a keynote speaker, I would undoubtedly
stay with Bertand Piccard, who through his brilliant exposition, came deep into our hearts and minds. With respect to the workshops, Christian Busch and “The collaborative economy”, was very clear and descriptive about the economy and the work in the current
context. Very good!! Certainly an excellent Congress in all its aspects -congratulations. “

Ali Shabdar from the DSA of United Arab Emirates commented “The World Congress in Paris offered a perfect combination of latest information
about the industry, news and initiatives, and useful workshops while provided a seamless environment to meet with peers and industry leaders to learn and exchange ideas. Choice of the location and the fabulous leisure programs took the whole experience to
the next level.

We can’t be more grateful for being a part of this great family and for having the chance to contribute to the progress of the industry
as a united international body. The amazing support and unparalleled inclusiveness we have received from the WFDSA community in the past two years has been tremendous and foundational to our success. We look forward to further collaboration opportunities and
are counting days to the next Congress in Thailand.”
