Association Performance Programs

 

 

The Association Performance Program (APP) for the Latin American region will be held on August 2-3, 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

 

The APP for the Asia/Pacific/Middle East regions will be held on May 9-11, 2018 in conjunction with the Korean DSA’s 30th Anniversary.

 

 

The APP for the European region will be held on October 18-19 in conjunction with Seldia 7th European Direct Selling Conference and Seldia 50th Anniversary.

 

 

The purpose of the seminar is to assist paid DSA staff employees as well as company volunteers in better managing their national DSAs, improving the value of the services they can deliver to member companies and assisting them in meeting WFDSA’s standards of excellence.

CEO Council Meeting CEO

 

 

The next WFDSA CEO Council meeting will be held on October 24, 2018 in Beijing, China in conjunction with the WFDSA’s International Symposium “Direct Selling – the Future” and the Direct Selling Research Center at Peking University (PKURCDS) 2018 Annual Convention.

 

 

WFDSA will host a welcome dinner on October 23rd and a cocktail reception and 40th Anniversary CEO Council dinner. A full day International Symposium and Gala dinner will be held on October 25.

Secretaries Seminar SEC

 

 

The WFDSA Secretaries Seminar will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in San Diego, California in conjunction with U.S. DSA Annual Meeting for convenience.

 

 

The purpose of the Secretaries Seminar is to provide a forum for DSA staff to exchange information on best practices in association management and to build leadership skills. Around 25 DSA staff from the European, Latin America and Asian region will participate in this event.

China Update

On March 19, 2018 in Beijing, China, the WFDSA Chairman Magnus Brännström accompanied by the WFDSA Officers and representatives from the CEO Council member companies who are part of the International Symposium Organizing Committee paid a visit to the Vice Minister of the State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC), Wang Jiangping. The meeting was held in a very friendly and cordial atmosphere.

 

 

Mr. Wang discussed the regulatory challenges in e-commerce. He emphasized the importance of product quality, consumer protection, product return and exchange programs and company training and control of their sales force.

 

 

Mr. Wang outlined the importance of distinguishing between legitimate verses illegitimate direct selling companies. He noted that the direct sales regulations will be revised in the future and he welcomed input from the industry.

 

 

Mr. Brännström, on behalf of the WFDSA member companies, expressed strong confidence in and commitment to the Chinese market and thanked the SAIC for their support of the direct selling industry. Using WFDSA and Seldia, the European direct selling association, as examples, he explained the important role of direct selling associations in the healthy development of the direct selling industry. He furthermore expressed our profound support for free trade.

 

 

Mr. Brännström invited Mr. Wang to the International Direct Seller Symposium to be held in Beijing on October 25, 2018 in conjunction with the CEO Council meeting and Board of Delegates meeting. He gladly accepted the invitation.

 

 

The Symposium will be jointly organized with the Direct Selling Research Center at Peking University.

 

SAIC, and other government organizations, are facing reorganization and will be merged with the General Administration of Food and Drug Supervision, Customs and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, forming a new agency, the General Administration of Market Supervision. Since the meeting Vice Minister Wang has been appointed new Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology.

DSA of France Update

After a successful celebration of FVD 50th anniversary and hosting an unforgettable World Congress XV in Paris, FVD has decided to acquire their own offices at 1 rue Emmanuel Chauvière 75015 Paris-15E-Arrondissement, France.

 

 

 

On April 3, 2018, the inauguration of the offices will take place with participation from Board of Directors, member / partner companies, government ministries and the European and international Federations.

 


 

 


 

 

Polish DSA Updatemal

 

 

On March 15, 2018, the Polish DSA (PSSB) in cooperation with the Consumer Federation and a Senate team on senior citizens held an annual event in Warsaw, Poland devoted to ” Who Creates a Digital Consumer ” in honor of International Consumer Day. Over 200 parcipants attended the two day event and speakers presented on the impact of new technologies on retail trade and consumers. PSSB conducted a workshop on the issue to what extent if at all can new technologies replace direct relations with the consumer. A digitial specialist led the workshop and demonstrated to the audience that the direct selling industry can serve as a model example of traditional retail sector adapting to new technologies.

 

 

DSA Australia Update

 

 

Direct Selling Australia began a network series of roundtable discussions in 2017. The program was created in June during the 50th Anniversary conference in order to keep the conversation going. In 2018, the DSA is continuing the intimate sessions for members to discuss various direct selling topics. In March, the DSA and member companies also participated in an Outrun Cancer charitable event. These events have strengthened the direct selling community in the marketplace.

 

 

 


 

 

DSA of Philippines Update

 

 

The Direct Selling Association of the Philippines (DSAP) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Philippines Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to strengthen its partnership and continue its campaign against pyramid schemes. The MOU also aims to promote direct selling as a legitimate source of income through the 800 Negosyo (Business) Centers of DTI nationwide and provide guidance to the community and to the Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) who are interested in starting their direct selling businesses.

 

 

The MOU was signed by DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez and DSAP Chairman Joey Sarmiento in the presence of DTI Undersecretary Zeny Maglaya, Vice Chairman Arlene Asidao and DSAP Directors Bernie Mercado and Beth Añana.

DSA Turkey UpdateTR

 

 

On March 2, 2018, the Turkish DSA held an educational conference at the Bosphorus University in Istanbul, Turkey. Participants included member companies, entrepreneurs and academia. Speakers spoke about doing business in Turkey, the gig economy, best practices in direct selling in the European Union and women entrepreneurship in Turkey.
